When a Sioux Falls woman opened up her cupcake shop a year ago, she had high hopes of cashing in on the growing trend and now Oh My Cupcakes! is going nationwide.

These sweet little treats are giving Melissa Johnson and her crew a big taste of success. After just a year in business, Johnson is now shipping her cupcakes across the country.

Melissa Johnson has perfected her recipe for cupcakes.

Now she's working to master the steps for gaining national exposure.

Johnson, owner of Oh My Cupcakes in downtown Sioux Falls, plans to launch an e-commerce website next month. She'll ship cupcakes by the dozen across the country, frozen and on ice so they will be thawed by the time they arrive at the customer's doorstep the next day.

The owner of Oh My Cupcakes in downtown Sioux Falls perfected her recipes by baking cupcakes for friends and relatives. Next, she decided to develop her interest into a business, rented a commercial kitchen for six months and began marketing her wares. Then, last April, she opened a cupcakery in the historic Tri-State Creamery Building.
